TJM Winch Bar

Post by rojac »

Does anyone have a TJM winch bar with a winch attached and if so how does the brackets hold up under load, that is the brackets with the partial welds that attach the bar to the chassis rails.

comeon somone must know im about to fit a xd9000 to my tjm t13 bar on the hilux, and was worried about pulling the bar off.
also where does one mount the solinoid pack on the t13 there aint much room, will it be a problem running longer cables and putting it under the bonnet

If the cables are running towards the battery directly (shorter the cable the beter) then you could put the solenoid under the bonnet, and not on top of the winch as you are not lengthening the cable.

The was a thread on the US boards (cant remeber where) that said that the brackets that TJM supplied failed when winching, I would like to know if thats the case here or if the US brackets are different. It would be a piss off to have the bar seperate from your 4by when winching.

Some TJM winch bars require a seperate "carrier" that is bolted in between the chassis that carries the winch. The only thing on the bar itself is the fairlead.

My suggestion ... ring TJM and check. From memory, these carriers are only about $30-$40.

I have a low mount in a tjm bar and it is fine. The brackets have been modified, but nothing has been changed where the brackets are welded to the bar itself.
