Hi all I was wondering, I'm going to upgrade my sealed beams on my d/cab lux with the non-sealed type. what is the best option, go through a mob like hella or what. Just wondering what others have done

Just get non sealed beams from narva, they are like $15-20 each. Hella are just waaaaay too pricey for the same quality. Dont buy any cheapies because the spread of light through the lenses is really poor.
Then get those 60%+ globes, they are still 55/60w, and yes they do make a difference, I have them. Just make sure they arent the stupid blue or green ones.
If you need more light than that, get brighter spotties,
Dowside to to having non-sealed beams is water ingress, just remember to fit the little rubber seal that comes with the light over the back of the globe. Dont do what i did and forget it and blow globe after globe doing water crossings at night.

I did the research on replacement lights and decided on the IPF. From reviews I read years ago, they sounded the best and they have 130w Hi and 80w low beam. The 7in round inserts are $97ea which isn't too bad. (Rectangle a little more, depends what model lux) If you know how to wire up a relay yourself, don't bother with a loom kit, buy the stuff at Jaycar for a lot less.

i recently bought sum universal crystal len's semi sealed replacements.
they are bout $45ish each..... but mine came with sum good bulbs (H4Xenon).... very good lens and reflector and they see good at night.
IPF's replacments we sell at work and they seeem to be very good and everyones happy .. i thinks they bout $90each and can handle brighter bulbs(illegal)

Some guy on the Surf forum installed later model (92 onwards) lights and grill to his 90 model. Had to perform surgery on the metal around the headlights to fit it all in. Doable, just a bit of work,,,

I've got non sealed head lights and am going back to sealed items Non sealed one fill up with water, then discolour the reflector. Tried putting silicon around the bulbs which promptly melted. The bulbs are 130/90 watt and in my headlights are crap. Get better spotties dude. Thats my 2c
Where the f#@k did that come from
I have excellent spotties and love getting out on the HWY at night and I can see everything. Problem is, its so seldom you have the road to yourself, 90% of the time you're doing 100 km/h on low beam. With my sh!tty lights I can barely see 2m in front of me. Hoping the replacements will fix this.
