license to break parts!
there's this swb MQ im buying, and its from one of those 'budget car dealers', you all know the kind. anyway, they're giving me a 'free' 12 month warranty on all parts contained within the car. seeing as im paying 4k for it (pricey i know but this thing's original and schmick as, it's the smoothest non-new 4wd ive ever driven), i intend to not do things by halves this first year of owning it, and go out and break quite a few things. just as long as i make sure it isn't obvious it was a big f*ck off rock or anything that did the damage...
well when you think about it you only reak stuff when you hit things like a big f*ck off rock the patrols are pretty strong though

you'd want to be careful to read the fine print of the warranty. most do not cover damage caused by abuse, wear and tear, acts of god, terrorism etc. in fact most used car warranties aren't worth a pinch of goat poo - use the warranty as a haggling tool and offer to forgo the warranty in exchange for a better price.

Exactly,
Things like clutches and brakes etc but if you think you can go wheeling and pop a cv or something and they will replace it I would be very suprised if anything like that was covered.
Check it out

New holdens and fords are not much better. When they are brand new and back at the dealers each month, you gotta wonder. Then again the dealers could be half of the problem. I have a friend with a brand new wagon that would'nt stay put with the hand brake on. The dealer's reply was that there was air in the handbrake line.

Have anotherc look at the fine print. The one I got with the Rocky only covered "internally lubricated" parts. So pistons, gears, diffs, axels, crank etc were all covered but not cooling or electrical systems and clutches were out if there was any sign of abuse. The mechanic working on the vehical has to report to the warranty company what has happened and then they need approval before they can start work, and if its not serviced properly or you don't send the forms back properly you won't be covered.
Far Cough...
Waranties are full of loop holes.
I had one on my lux when I first bought it.
When my radiator crapped itself they paid for only half (or maybe less I cant remember) because they said that some of the wear and tear on it was from before the waranty.
Although when my exhaust manifold got a crack they threw on some genie extactors for free which was good.
Over all I probably got back what I paid extra for the waranty.
Paul.

Unlikely they'll cover anything you break/wear through offroad usage, and anything you do will end up a sh*tfight to get and they'll usually find something else you need to pay to fix while it's apart, the warranties probably worth $300 and anything you want fixed over that, the dealer is going to try the best not to lose out of his pocket as you yourself would, contrary to popular belief car dealers & real estate agents don't sell a car/house every day, some maybe only once a month and do have families to support.

Sounds like a dumb attitude to me.
They won't cover your damage, I think its been made clear enough.
I had a Commadore that had a s/h warranty and they wouldn't cover the full cost of anything, just allocated a certan amount for each like $800 toward an engine etc.....

Mine was I think $10000 for major things like the engine and gearbox and $1000 for brakes, cooling system etc. That was per claim not combined claims over the life of the warranty.
I had a 3yr/100 000km warranty on my Rodeo when I bought it second hand. In that 3 years they replaced the water pump and clutch slave cylinder. Don't think there was anything else but it was quite comprehensive. In fact even my mechanic mentioned how they covered things that others don't. Like the water pump. It came from East Coast Commercials in Brisbane. I guess you can afford to give a warranty like that on an Isuzu though
However my mechanic also mentioned that they were a real PITA to deal.
Not sure what it cost but I remember working out that it paid for itself and I got it off the price of the car anyway.
