diesel samurai

Post by Rotazuk »

Hi
Well before the crash some guys wanted some pic's of my 2ct powered samurai . Here is the post I wrote but never got up in time .

Image

It all fits in ok . Its not a tight fit but its definitly a snug fit .

Image

Even have room for the original jack

Image

Here you can see the master clylinder for the clutch , as the t50 gearbox has a hydralic clutch .

Image

There is no body lift etc , there is a sign that the engine has been rubbing on the bonnet but it don't anymore . Not sure as it was like that when I got it .

Image

The right hand engine mount sits on top of the factory mount , no hassles there .

Image

The left hand side has had a plate welded on top of it and the mount sits on the forward edge of the original mount . I am sure there is a better way to do this so it is bolt in etc .

Also the gearbox mount has been cut in the top section and a flat plate welded in as the gearbox mount is about 1 inch further forward than the suzuki one . There is no adaptor used , just need the right bellhousing for the 2ct , guessing a 1c and 3c would be the same . Not sure what gearbox is in the lite ace vans ( were the engine is from ) but over here the 79 to 87 shape corrola station wagons had the 1c in them , so I would be guessing thats a good place to start looking for a box or bellhousing .

Also the 95 gen 2 vitaras had a 2lt diesel in them , mostly from japan but a few new here . They were a mazda diesel with a turbo , the 626 had an intercooler :-)

Someone mentioned looking at a c18 or c20 , this could be hard . I have a ca18de from a silvia going into my offroader , the silvia box is huge so i ended up bolting it to a nissan nivara gearbox and t/case . ( boo hoo no more rock hopper ) . But have since found out you can split the rear of the silva case and bolt some sort of skyline box end to shorten them .
have a look here , for the pic's of what I have done so far

If you have any more questions on the 2ct I will try and answer them but unfortunatly I did not install it .

Cheers

Chris

Thanks rotazuk,very informative.
Also very cool

I have a 4agze & corolla t50 in my zuk, the conversion seems very similar except mine is all bolt with less room around the engine.
I was wondering if any of liteace van box's had a trans case fitted to them so that when i go to lux diffs the rear shaft won't have compound angles.
Will have try & get a look at a diesel 4wd van & find out?

thanks for the info
cheers
