i am sure this has been done to death but i was wondering what peoples opinions of tyres were
i am looking at getting new tyres 31-10.5-15 simex mt anyone got some opinions of diferent brands

I have a set of Simex Centipede M/Ts, 31's. Pretty good tyres, especially for the money, I paid $170 each fitted and balanced. I only run them for off road trips, and run a set of BFG A/T's for mainly bitumen work.
The biggest problem, I feel, is the affect on your gearing. These tyres are significantly larger than the standard tyres, and it shows on the road. I barely use 5th on the road with the Simex's on, and fuel economy is pretty bad, almost half of what it is with the BFG's. I put it down to the extra work the motor is doing keeping the car at highway speed.

If you dont mind paying for the extra fuel, and the wear rate, then run them all the time. Otherwise, run 2 sets like me. I am in the process of making a rack to carry my muds on top of my camper trailer, for long trips away.

yes i am going to have 2 sets of rims and use the simex for off road only as this is my everday car and travel 140kms a day so i will not be using them everyday
i have been quoted $915.00 fitted and balanced with new rims
so i am thinking that is pretty good
i am going for 8"rims to get a bigger offset

cheaper to get secon hand f100 rims same stud pattern big offset options
if going from standard to 31's you may need to flare it as tyres will be pretty wide..
also need big offset to clear springs at full lock
either way offroad you will notice the difference

don't buy wide wheels in an attempt to increase your track it don't work quite like that

Get a bigger offset 7" rim like inka said

I have just bough some simex mt's to but I only paid $143 fitted and balance. I cant say how they drive yet cause I to have 2 sets of tyers, but I am keen to find out.

where did you get them for that price?
it would be worth my while paying some freight
and f100 rims will give me more offset will they
that might be a better option as they are for off road use only so 2nd hand rims won't matter

I got them from Junction Tyers in Mentone in Victoria..
It didnt take to much bargaining either.

try any f truck wreckers in phone book...
only paid $25.00 each here so use that when bargaining

I'm not sure if there's 31 inch for these tyres but it outperforms the Xtreme Trekkers.
I think they are called Silverstone MT117 sports or something.
Very similar tread but deeper and wider.
Abit like Boggers.
