Need info

Post by jonx4x4 »

Hi, RMP&O referred me here to ask my questions.

Im own a 1969 Nissan Patrol KL60(G60 SWB equivalent). Recently, when reading one of my off-road magazines, I saw an ad for suggestions for strange 4x4's. Patrols are very rare in the USA, and very few know of them.

This is our chance to get our Patrols all the attention the deserve.

I have all of the history clear up till the debut of the MQ. I know at some point, there was an MQ available. Thats about it...

Maybe yall can give me some vague history of Patrols from 83 on? Like years that certain versions of Patrols were available, major changes to them, clear up to the current Patrol. Is it a GR?

Also, would like info on what engines and transmissions were available(can be vague as 4-speed, 5-speed, 6-speed manuals OR 3-speed auto, 4-speed auto). I would like a bit of info on the engines showing that they havent gone all wimpified with 1.5L 4-bangers like some new cars have, and stuff...

I want to show the readers what kinds of beasts Patrols were, and how the new Patrols are beatiful, comfortable, and can still take a lickin after a hard day's work! Who knows, maybe somebody important will take notice, and Nissan will start marketing Patrols over here again(haha, I can dream, cant I?).

Thanks yall. You would be doing me and countless others a favor by helping...

MereMale- Thanks for the link, but I wasnt able to find the info I wanted...

BeastMavster- Care to explain? :?

Was the MQ/MK available the same years, or was the MK a new generation of the MQ? If so, when did they make this change? Did that change in appearance also bring changes in drivelines?

If I can get some info on MQ/MK's, I will be that much closer to having this done... :)

Dont know what stuff Beastmavter sent. But will tell you some stuff I know.

the 4spd Auto that has been in the patrol from GQ87-GU02 (well atleast untill they brought the 5sp auto). It is the same auto as what the US get in the Nissan Infinnity Q45, so it can take a V8. But then again Hazard was having trouble getting them to hold together but then he put the V8 in and tubo'd it.

5spd from 87 to current, is a truck box (not sure which ones and what size, but guessing UD stuff). So it can take alot of punishment. Most people have clutch problems before the box starts to have problems. And some people have some big motors infront of them.

Beastmavter depending how big your info was might be good linked in here somewhere.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
