can anyone tell me if the free wheeling hubs of a 78 fj55 (drum brakes) will fit a 76 fj40(disks)

Are you sure? The part numbers for the CV's are the same from Sep '75 until Dec '78. The same for drive flanges (non locking hubs) for the front.

Do you guys get front disc brakes in the 40 or 55 series before 1979?

yeah, Pt numbers are the same according to the australian parts site i looked up

but yeah we got disks on 76 and up 40's, but drums only on 55's. different drums to the pre 76.

as far as i can tell, the cv's have the same spline count

might say bugger leaking, and pull em and see (off my Dayly driver)

so what grease do i repack them with?
