Need some body to crawl under there 40

Post by bj42turbo »

Hi guys
This is re the mystery noise I have, just wondering if somebody would get down and dirty for me :D and crawl under there truck, grab on to the rear tailshaft and tell me how much if anything it will rotate backwards and forwards.
Now no kinky stuff while your under there :D

Hey,
Mine moves about 4-5 mm. Sorry i had to get kinky, but it was only a little bit. :) All that dirt and oil, i can't help myself.
My front drive shaft moves a fair bit more but my entire front end makes strange noises when in 4wd.....

i tried this yesterday after lookin at the brake/noise thread..

by twisting my rear tailshaft, without holding anything else i get about 10deg of rotation.

now if i hold onto the sleeve yoke and twist the shaft i get about 1mm of movement..

does this help?

not the front bearing in your diff? Could be diff bearings maybe hard to tell without seeing and feeling it. If you go out rock hopping and really really push your truck, whatever isn't well will blow up/break, no more searching, you will know what it was

  :P :D :)
