93 Rangie ABS question
Howdy,
Since the weekend my truck has developed a strange habit of not stopping when I hit the stop button (the brakes) . I hear a solenoid go 'clunk' from within and then the Traction Control light, ABS and Park brake lights come on and the pedal drops to the floor.... scary sh#t!!!

Rip all that ABS shit out and put the old style brakes say from a Disco or later model Rangie for example.
Those ABS modules are highway robbery to get repaired (never repaired one but someone I know has and it cost him well over 2 grand!!!), and for less than $1000 you could get a good secondhand or new booster, master cylinder ands lines and be better off and have piece of mind that no more electronic shit will die on you!!
By the way, have you moved that computer out of harms way yet?

A little history, Aust day weekend the car was filled with water (over seats) and the ECU amongst other electrical were drowned. Two days later they were dried out and she started. Since the 3 light I described earlier have been on all the time. 1 week ago I noticed a clunk from within however everything was good i.e. no ABS and no TC. Now the clunk has got louder and the brakes don't work all the time so I think it's time to have it looked at by a pro. Before I do that I want to make sure it isn't anything my hammer can't fix.
BTW Also some times while driving the brakes come on (like the TC is kicking in)

I was under the impression that I couldn't go back to old skool brake system on my model....
The ECU is still under the seat just waiting for mate to finish his EFI module and then I’ll start cutting my wiring loom to bits as I have a wolf 3d sitting in my desk draw waiting for some action... probably mount it under the dash somewhere or in the roof lining.. Dunno yet.

Anything is possible with a Rangie.
Hell, I put a 82 Rangie front end under mine, as I had all the bits and the whole lot, including a perfect set of CV's from a 82 cost $200 all up for seals and some bearings for the swivel housing. The imperial (82) V Metric (92) was interesting, but a bit of good old fashioned aussie engiuity come up trumps!!
I hope to be doing this some time in the next year, will keep you posted on how I go.
