hey people,
to body lift the 40 how many blocks do i need? i went to the shop and they said 6... but from what we can see there are atleast 8 blocks and then 2 that we will have to weld blocks onto for support in the back?
can someone let me know how many blocks and if they have welded in extra's for the vloor in the back or did they just leave them sitting where they are and not do anything with them?
cheers
andrew

bodylifting a 40
Fj40 '84, 2F. PWS, 2" extended shackles, detroit rear, soon lockrite front. huge 31" tires :( one day some big mothers!
Just did mine and a mates last week
The minimum is 10 blocks (most kits only come with 8 for some strange reason?? don't know which ones they want you to leave out??) with 3 on each side bolted from bottom up (total 6), 2 in the back bolted from top down (those two bloody bolt heads that get in the way in the back) and 2 on the back bumper (use the middle 2)
There are actually 4 original mounts on the back bumper, but most of the lifts I've seen only use the middle two.
There are also two more mounting points on the side steps too.
On ours, we used a total of 14 blocks each using the 4 on the back bumper and using two block to lift the front grill. We left the side steps off 'cos we're making some new ones.
As for the front guards, we just re-drilled two of the holes and welded a plate on the bottom with two more holes.
Hope this is helpful
Good to see more 40s reaching for the skys
Let us know how you go.

'76 FJ40, custom bullbar, 6 point cage, 33" MTRs, no roof, same old 6 banger, no soa, no power steering, drum fronts, no lift kit, standard suspension and she still puts Nissans to shame :)
apparently i have found out that i need to re fabricate the battery holder? and i will need to move the power steering to get the body lift on? did you have these problems on your mates car?
it will happen anyway but im trying to research anyways so i can get it al done at once otherwise i will have no car for a while when i wait for other things to be moved or made.
