mistakes work out right sometimes

Post by christover1 »

After making my zook driveable, to get get correct 4:6 diff for
front, I thought I'd check the rear for exact ratio...make sure no
more mistakes...
spun the tail shaft a trillion times, kept coming up as a 4:875
diff....so it seems I/them/somebody had already made a woops on the
first/rear diff...so my 4:875 front diff is now correct :)
my maths said that be too low for road work, but obviously it isn't,
cause I love it.
Clearly the Off Road Gods meant me to have 4:875 diffs, the lowest
possible.
They appear as strong/weak as the 4:6 any way...and suziworld has
plenty more.

Yes, LJ 80 has 4:6 diffs and LJ 50 has 4:875
but only useable for 1.0 litre type diffs, won't suit 1.3 diffs at all..
But beware, my diffs said LJ80 on them, but turned out to be LJ50.
People obviously changed ratios on LJ's too. So spin em and check.
front diffs bolt straight in, and rears need to reuse sierra centre, for the axle size..front and back diffs on LJ's appear to be identical....some later stockmans may have correct axles for sierras, but rarer tho.
