Bad Shorts?

Post by Spike_Sierra »

Gday all,
i have a problem that whenever i toot the horns(air horns) the radio stops for a seconds and then comes back in, anyone know what would be causing this,
I wired up the compressor for the horns just straight from the battery with a fuse.
can anyone shed some sort of light?

and you have both the radio and the blower earthed to the battery or to a really good ground. Sounds like the startup current for the horns is dropping the battery voltage the radio senses, so the radio is shutting itself off. It does the same when you start the car to stop the radio blowing its own fuse and internals by drawing lots more amps when the voltage drops off.

you might just have to make sure your grounds are good and the battery is ok.
