silicone up dizzy, what stuff to use?

Post by hottiemonster »

Is there a special type of silicone type stuff you use to seal up the dizzy. My mate used some on mine and i am not sure which stuff it was, all i know it was orange.

this worked well and after a day of letting it set, i could pour 10 litres of water on my dizzy and it would do nothing (while the car is running of course)

now it had worn off and i need to reapply, so what stuff should i buy?

thanks

Peter

Auto shops have the blue or orange. Any silicone will do as long as its not actinic, ie or it will corrode terminals.

Water gets into the Nissan distrib as condensation, thru the breather hole at rear of shaft on bottom. Put in a fitting and run to a small filter at firewall. On rubber plug on cap run a hose to airinlet.

Cap should have an :O: ring to seal it to the base standard.

i used black gasket goop, same as i used on the sump.. works good. I use roofing silicone everyday at work and it will work fine too. Sikaflex would be hard to get off maybe?

I would have thought RTV gasket goop would be perfect for this?
