drove 150 kms on 'empty'

Post by ryna »

Hey everyone

Lately i thought my fuel economy was goin doooooownhill, because the thing says empty quite soon after i fill up the tank, like after 150kms or so

So yesterday i tested it out to see what the deal was, my tank said empty and i drove another 150 kms to get home, at 110kph.

It hasnt run out yet either, i got all the way home and havent driven it today yet

What could the problem be?

And also yesterday my car was making a new noise, when in 4wd i was on the beach, and in 3rd and 4th gear mainly, as i let go of accelarator at speed i heard a loud grinding noise.

Even in 2 wheel drive my car makes a bit of a grindy noise in all gears when i let the power off and it uses engine braking to slow down, every zook ive driven does it.

But yesterday only in 4wd it was louuud like louder than the engine

Is your Fuel tank Dinted?

And sounds like either your transfer or gearbox is on its way out.

The fuel problem might be the fuel sender unit in the tank

I have had problems with this myself

I just popped the unit out of the tank and ran some solder where the unit had worn. It worked for a while but I am up for a new one now
