cruiser dual cases in lux??

Post by 85lux »

ok, so i just went and got a h55f out of an 84 bj42 to go behind the 3b in my lux.

goddamn, its heaps shorter and higher than the lux box and transfer i had been previously running.

so. i have a problem with the length of the front tailshaft. i'm moving the diff further forward again to help this problem.

does anyone know of a dual case kit for this transfer/gearbox as it would give me lower ratios and also the extra tailshaft length i need???

cheers

The only duel case for the h55 is the Marks cruizer crawler
At about $3500
Marlin don't make a toybox for the h55

duals

Post by Bazz107 »

Toybox is for 4 speed transfer case not 5 speed, Unless you buy the crawler box from mark's there is no way to get duals from crusier at the moment, although I have been looking at running lux 4 speed to crusier but have not gotten far with this yet.... nowhere really but will let you know if it happens.

ok, so i can't move the output flange further back using a second transfer case.

appreciate your help guys.

i am putting the rear springs in the front, using the rear hole in the spring perch. this should move the diff a fair way forward, away from the transfer. probably gain about 50mm from this.

also i will have to move the engine back my making new mounts on the chassis, both lower and further back. probably get 60mm from this.

as a long shot could i machine up a spacer between the gearbax and transfer say 100mm long with an extension shaft with both male and female splines to link the gearbox and transfer once they are moved apart. jees i hope it doesn't come to this, too much work

anybody got any other ideas???

Work out just how much shorter your drivetrain will be, because you may be able to move the front diff forward enough to use standard lux front shaft.

By putting rears up front you can get the front diff up to 5 inches forward: if you mount new dropped spring hangers 1" or 2" forward (recommended anyway)- more room if you move the diff forward on it's spring perches. (Will need X over steering tho).

So I'd do the spring swap to suit your drivetrain and save a few dollars with the front shaft.

yeh, i'm doing the rear springs in the front along with crossover(just waiting for my mate to grind up a cutter for me. thats the last step on my homemade hysteer arms.) wasn't planning on dropped front xmember but we'll see.
hopefully i will getenough out of it by just moving the diff forward.
