G'day all, I have been installing my own lpg kit and have gotten to the electrical component of the install. I have been checking my installation with a local lpg installer who is certified but when he explained how to wire up the kit I nodded but was not entirely sure how to do what he was saying.
Anyway, I have wired up the feeds from the tank to the safety switch/box as well as to the neg' on the coil and the converter diode. I am left with the lpg fuel gauge, installing a switch on the dash as well as splicing into the injector wireing in the driver's footwell. Oh' and the fuel pump too!
Is there anyone out there that can get me through this last bit as electrics is not my forte' (read. electrically challenged), and I don't want to get this wrong and have the gas installer knock it back and get me to do it again.
It's a '93 v8i Disco (fuel injected)

My LPG on my 96 disco does not use the neg coil.
It splices into the injector feed wires under the dash and uses a timer and relays. So when I turn the key, it momentarily powers the fuel injectors to start on petrol, then cuts the petrol and gas takes over. To switch to petrol the relays' reconnect' the spliced fuel injector wires and disconnect the gas feed.
The fuel guage are led lights neatly included into the instrument surround cover bottom lip. So they are unobtrusive

Do yourself a cheap favour adn get the gas man to finish the last part. If you start cutting to many wires and or short some running back to the computer it will all go pear shaped. They won't charge much for this last tidy up. All the hard work has been done by you so if in dobt still don't risk it.
If in dobt just smile, it won't change what is broken but it will make it feel a whole lot better.
It's legal as long as you have the conversion complied by a licenced installer/inspector. If they like it they will fit an LPG compliance plate to give the OK.
As far as that goes, if you stuffed it up or have done something dangerous, it won't get passed.

I though this was pretty well covered off on the Comcen board and you got your answer there didn't you ?
There are installers out there that will inspect your work and pass it with compliance plates or certificates, find one and do the conversion, if it is to their liking then you will be passed.
Torden has completed his install and has it certified. As far as I know it works well and hasn't had any problems yet - although it is early days

Even though he has the answer now here is the info.
As per the wiring diagram the injectors are powered via two wires
the ones you want to cut and put relays on are
Blue with Yellow trace
White with Yellow trace
An easy way to get this is to peel the boot back a bit off one injector each side and look for the coloured wire. The other line is Brown with organe trace which you can just leave - it is common to both.
Cut the wires in the foot well or under the seat and put in a relay for each wire. Terminal 30 and 87 are the ones that will be switched so put the ecu side on one end and the injector side on the other end.
Terminal 85 to ground (find a good one there should be some already under the seat) and terminal 86 to your fuel/lpg switch (connect to the fuel side so it will close the relays when the car is switched to fuel)
Aparently it is industry standard to run the fuel pump continually so you don't interrupt that line (check this detail with your installer - and don't run your car out of fuel - it will kill the pump)
