Who has a letter of approval from Qld Transport for Body Lift kits?
What do they check for besides 2" lift??

it seems to depend on the deadshit you get on the day,,, my blocks havnt been approved probl should but prior to that on changing rego i did the wrong thing and changed springs (4 inch lift on weeknd i bought) then drove to DOT (not expecting an inspection) they decided to do a random check of my truck to check numbers and then the boys ees lit up and came to check it out for defects.
no.189 his response being you havnt lifted it you've just changed the springs and shocks, - who am i to argue!
then checked brake lines etc and panards and just wanted to make sure that shock and spring mounts were alll standard- and he took some serious convincing-was weird!
and mud flaps they love their mudflaps!!!!!!

I've been through the process, I have my letter, and it was less painful than I expected. The biggest issue was that I had booked at short notice, so the inspection station weren't expecting me, and didn't have any of the paperwork. It took longer for them to sort that out than to inspect the vehicle.
All the paperwork I received stated the blocks must be metal - steel or aluminium alloy. During the inspection one of the inspectors told me they will approve sleeved plastic blocks, but I can't remember if we were talking poly or nylon.
They told me they wouldn't bother going over the whole vehicle, because it looked like it was well looked after. But their job is to ensure vehicles are roadworthy - if it's obviously dodgy they can't ignore it.
They also told me that they'll ignore tyres up to one inch over standard, as opposed to the 15mm thing in the regs - which was good, because my tyres were technically too large...
Make sure lights, windscreen wipers/washers, demisters are all working, your tyres have tread and steering components are tight. Clean up any evidence of oil leaks. And be nice - no matter how much it might hurt. If you're looking for a pissing contest, they will win.

the whole tyres thing is wierd cause i remember someone on here (OL) who lives in townsville got 35inch tyres passed all he had to do was a brake test

1. nylon or polyurethane blocks with a steel crush tube insert
2. fuel filler and brake line extensions as required
3. steering components can not be cut and welded to lengthen (mainly from brhing the wheel to the steering box)
4. You have to have your paperwork sent to the DOT and accepted before starting the work (they post it back to you to take with you for the inspection) - once finished you ring up and book in for an inspection
They tested:
1. brakes on the rolling road (including handbrakefunction)
2. lights and electricals
3. put the front wheels on a "hydraulic shaker" to ensure that there was no play in the from steering or suspension linkages
4. they put it over the pits and checked all suspension, wires hoses etc
my tip would be always do they body lift before doing other mods - it is probably one of the harder things to get approved, althought if you do it properly you should have no problems.
if anyone wants anymore info or PDF versions of the application forms I am more than happy to provide...

no you fill out a form telling them what u are planning to do, they post it back saying yes thats fine or no thats no good. If they say it is all good they stamp the form with a box for the inpector to sign in. U then perform the body lift in accordance with how u described it in the form, once finished you ring up QT and book in for an inspection (I went to Logan Central and it cost $52 from memory). U then take your rig down and they do the tests i described above - if they dont like it u can still drive home and they give u a list of stuff to fix before u return for your next inspection.....

went and got it engineered with a blue plate and main roads pulled me up they saw the plate and didn't question me bout it
now to get the suspension done ...
