i heard a couple of sierra owners talking about a replacement cam that improves power or torque or something?
they said instead of doing 90kms top speed they would be doing at least 130???
is it that great a improvement? is so, i want one, but do they make one for the 1.6? they said it costs about $140 for the cam only. they might be BS-ing, but hwo knows, i got the weber on the way also, but still hesitatant until i see it in my hands and talk to the carby dude about what he can do.
i'm also worried about the air filter element on the weber, its all open and that like the ones on V8s and stuff, will i have to make up a custom airbox to sit on top and have a snorkel running off it with an internal air filter element?

err.. if it wa $140 i think we all will say 'i got one ' most cams i've seen tend to be above $300 and designed for mid range... so maybe not high end.
Then again my suzuki is a stock carb 1.3L and it hits 110km without redlining in 4th, i'm sure if i lived in a flat area i could do more

well you probably want to be scooping up cold air instead of sucking in hot air off the engine. i have seen bonnet scoop cut out so the carby and air filter sat inside it. looked kinda cool. of course this wasn't in a sierra but i'm sure you could do the same thing, maybe even have an airbox that was attached to under the hood so ten it scooped in it would be directed to wards the filter

with the carby, not worried about cold air, cos there isn't too much of it up here, but there is a lot of water and stuff, so open filter and water dont really mix.

I ahd my cam reground to suit my head and carb mods .. talk to any half competnat speed shop about what you are wanting to achive and what induction and exhaust you intend to use, they should be able to help you out ..
BTW my regrind was around the $100-$150 mark ( a few years ago so memory is a litte fuzzy on exact price)
