4wd light on dash stays on

Post by Bad JuJu »

Since I did a water crossing 600mm deep my 4wd dash light now stays on wether im am in 4wd or not.
I disconnected the plug near the t-case but it showed no signs of moisture in the connection.
I have done this crossing about 20 times before and never had a problem.
The car is a 91 sierra if that helps.

Any help appreciated as its driving me nuts.

Looks like I will have to pull the tcase as the wiring checks out fine..... if I disconnect the waterproof connecter near the tcase the light goes out, when I short the two wires together the light comes on....so maybe the switch is stuffed or the tcase is not actually disengaging 4hi properly.
Ill jack up the car and test this first...

The switch or the wiring can do it easily. Mine did the same. Nothing wrong with my case just the wiring.

most itmes you will find that the switch is worn.

pull it out and check that the plastic lobe is not stuck up in the switch,or is
not worn down.
