It RUNS BACKWARDS?
I'm sure you know what you are referring to, but......do you mean..............The exhaust pipe sucks back all the noxious gases previously expelled? The odometer goes up whilst the engine is running and then down when you switch it off? Reverse parking has become compulsory and to get to the shops you must drive past it to allow for the running backwards when you turn off the engine? (Sorry, couldn't resist the humour)
Or are you referring to the engine running on for a second or two after returning the ignition to the off position?
You say that you just installed the Weber. Did you do this yourself or did you have it done for you? Weber carbies are a very tolerant carby. What I mean to say is that they are not dificult to tune or get an engine running whilst out of tune, they have a wide effective range. This is good as they keep running when abused, but can also have the effect that a poor tune can also be mistaken as the engine is running. I have had a few webers over the years and have had occasions where the engine runs on or a "gassy vapour" sound is made when the power is cut. The engine still ran fine and there were no other symptoms. Both situations were fixed with a little adjustment. I still do not know what you mean by "runs backwards" but if what I have referred to above sounds familiar, I would recommend you either review your installation and tune the carby or have it tuned by the installer.

may be running rich, the carbon builds up inside the chambers, and when hot/glowing, it acts like a deisel and just keeps chugging.
also possibly idle cut off solenoid may be faulty or disconnected..if webers have them?

check ya ignition timing first. this is the most common reason for running on. if timing is ok then you may need to adjust the idle mixture on the weber.
PM me if ya need any help
