my first impression - by hands on touchy feely stuff...... the ruber is soft real soft..... the outer lugs (being thicker) feel squishy but firm.... the inner lugs can be pushed easily 5mm by the index finger (quiet soft).
The tread depth is incredible (probably close to double the BFG mud terains)
The POS should be ready to wheel early tommorow mourning and I am hoping to go for a spin out to ormeau fro a quick test session I had to get a track bar as my original one was bent and outta shape by more than an inch hopefully the maxi drive one should hold up abit longer .
These tyre at first impression seem very sexy and for a 35" tyre i think the measurement would be closer to 36"..... also the 10.5" tread width is probably more like 11.5-12" (same as the simexes state 12.5 but are more like 13.5)

so maybe the idea is to buy two sets, put one on the car & leave the other set sitting in the sun for 12months too harden up so they don't wear down so quick. but i guess depends on vechile & the weight of the drivers foot.

Well my test plans have been foiled
I just got a call from Brett raguarding the installation of the MD track bar.....................
Aparently the tie rod that I got from rick was another right hand one this is after I rang em to let em know I needed one to suit the MD track rod (Mal told me they supply them) and I was told yeah they got plenty.
I sent my mate down there with a peice of paper explaining what was needed and sumhow I still ended up gettiong another right hand tie rod NOT HAPPY
Now Brett has the inconveinience of having to do twice as much work....and I dont get to go wheeling cauise my track bar is bannana shaped
Shure it was just a simply stuff up, but its still a stuff up . I wanna thank Brett for his time and patience and hopefully i can sorce a LEFT HAND tie rod sooner

Not the case, AFAIK it depends if the tyres are dot rated or not...

Sorry Boggers are not legal in QLD. Even though they have a DOT stamp on them. The DOT stamp is for the US not AUS.

You probably asked for one for a rangie. Rangie are rh thread both sides. You need lh thread tre from a 110/defender (not rangie).

Well my guards are cut I am happy with the result considering actual time taken was only like 4 hours... But not 100% finished yet.
And yes when i rang i stated exactly that i needed a left hand tie rod to use with a MD track bar, I never knew one off a defender was another way round it.... I could have got one of them damn.

results.....
well first of all, on road they are almost horrible (further balancing may be required). Noise from the tires is very noticably but after 60Km/h it doesnt get any louder (ok maybe alittle bit louder). The Db levels are lower than the Maxxis Mudzillas my mate was running on his shorty gq but not by much .
offroad so far (comparing to my old BFGs) these things are deffinately proving to be a grippy tire, but again most of the time the BFGs failed me was still when the rear diff was draging along and these tyres bein abit bigger the rear diff drags along much less......
On wet rock the tyres still seemed abit lacking but were still taking me over everything unlocked quiet easily.
I had them down to 15-16psi and reports from Shane says they wernt even bagging out and next time I am gonna try 8-10psi.
I think the extra drop in PSI will make them better again and can comfortably say that with the little testing i have done so far I am gonna be very happy with the offroad performance of these xtremes.
To give an idea the main double hump gunshot hill out of the creek (for those of you that know Ormeau) was pretty damn easy (i didnt use the locker for anything) the only thing that was gonna stop forward motion was the rear diff getting too hung up (which it didnt) it dragged alittle but abit more speed and she was up no fuss.
On the highway at 16psi the tyres didnt like it much at all, I stopped at maccas and I could smell the rubber and it was very warm to touch I inflate them back to 30psi for road use and see how i go next time at lower pressures offroad, as already mention with 16psi they just did not seem to change or bag at all

overall offroad - 4.5 (lower pressures and I will up it to a perfect 5)

We are still impressed with the off road traction but that causes it's own problems...on the weekend the wife took them rockcrawling in Cobaw and bellied the 80 on it's rear shaft on a nice big rock. She gave it heaps with the lockers and managed to snap and corkscrew the rear tailshaft.
But we drove home front wheel drive...and still at 110.

YER so my magna used to do 180 and it was a front wheel drive

Once again Ruff is on the money .... No swamper has the Speed rating to meet Australian Standards.
Bias Claws ARE rated to Australian Standards as are the Radial Claws.
I was talking to a fella from the importers of the Maxxis Bias range and he said that they aren't rated.
Hope this helps.
You'll find that the tyres will bag up with more pressure in them as you use them more. After a couple of months you'll be back up to 15-16psi with a nice bag going.

these have been round a while last time i saw them was on chris woods' nissan potrol down at mud bulls and music last year....do like like the goods tho will be interesting to see what ppl think of them after testing them out..mind you he was usin them for on road use

i have been selling tyres for 20 odd years and i would be interested in the spec sheet and pics on construction radial plys and cross plys in one carcass " I would like to see that " cross ply will give you best off road results and radial will give you best on road. I wholesaler in Qld is neta tyres
