GQ Petrol / Diesel AIR CONDITIONING

Just curious....

The a/c for a GQ SWB 88 model.
i dont have it.....

but im after the a/c system.

Ive found a diesel with a complete a/c system...

wat i want to know is, is all the internal wiring loom, evaporator, a/c fan and switches etc ( all internals ) the same in the TB42 as in the Diesel ( TD42 ) ????

also the engine bay stuff.... is any of it the same? like the piping and condensor or the compressor?
i know the brackets would be differents.....

Wiring looms differ Petrol to Diesel

Components in same place, brackets different.

Looks like the main componantry is in the same place, but all the brackets are different on the engine itself.

I am not sure on wiring, but could not be much different.

thanks for the replies....

1. What about the Fan and evaporator etc. thats under the glove box???
is it the same between the deisel and petrol???

2. is the compressor the same in deisel and petrol? and the piping? evaporator? and drier? i know the brackets are different, i can get the brackets easy, just curious if comp etc are the same......

3. the wiring loom that plugs in under the dash and goes to the fan motor etc and to the A/C switch in the centre console..... that different?

4. the diesel wiring loom in the engine bay for the drier and compressor etc... is that different between petrol and deisel?

Another A/C Question

Guys
Juist had the AC pump start squeeling at me when i'm over about 1500rpms, since i'm moving to Sydney next week will it last the trip down?
Had mate tell me his screamed for ages before it gave up,
my biggest worry is 2 days with the missus whinging "it to hot in here"

Thoughts??

sorry Screwy if i had known i wouldn't of destroyed my a/c system when i was ripping it out :roll:

ur right mate.

Im sure i can peice together a system from the 4 sources ive found....
just would of liked to know if there was a difference between petrol and diesel before i rip it outa a diesel....

How much is the diesel compressor worth from a wrecker anyway? Mine made a horrible squealing noise a couple of days ago so i switched it off and pulled over. On inspection there was smoke coming out of the compressor and smelt like burning clutch. Doh!! 2 days of driving with the windows down I had the best truckies sunburn on my right arm! :D Sorry can't answer any of your questions.

Mine is a petrol air conditioner compressor.

In a TD42

The TD42 and the petrol have individual brackets to suit.

The compressor is a straight bolt on either bracket.

I simply cut the compressor cut in wire to suit my existing loom (2.8 had air con but had a different compressor/mounting system as the 4.2 did)

I bought my compressor from one of the guys on the fs section for 130 bux to give you some idea of what they are worth.

I did an online search on compressor prices and they vary between 200 to 350 each.

Condensor and hoses should be very similar and are nearly a straight bolt up.

I put a TD42 into a vehicle that was a TB42 originally. I left the aircon there, with just a twist of the hose coming into the compressor needed to make it fit around the alternator which was now near it. From what i saw, everything between the petrol and diesel air con set up seemed to be the same. i can't garuntee it, but the hoses and stuff seem to be in the same spots. The connectors to the system under the dash seems to be the same too.
