Y61 & Y60 differences

Post by GQ Toy »

Hi all,
Found out recently that my 96 patrol ute has a y61 motor - completely different rear main seal (found out friday afternoon :x , but there was a seal available ex Perth :) ). FRom what I understand it is not recommended to fit turbos to post 95 N/A Y60 motors due to issues with strength of motor, BUT I think the Y61 N/A motor has a stronger bottom end and I may be able to turbo it (Yay more power) can any nissan mechanic confirm or deny this information
Any information much appreciated
Cheers
Brad

Its mainly to do with Nissan using lighter weight pistons between 1995 and 1997 approx. Turbo pressure and heat related.
