Just wondering if anyone can explain why my brake and charge dash lights flicker on and off only occasionaly when i use my blinkers. It doesn't happen any other time until the blinkers are used. The Alternator is new and working fine.
It's only happening occasionally too. Maybe a few times every couple off days. I spoke to an auto elec. but he doesnt know and of course it wont happen while it's in his workshop.

Brake & Charge Lights
Moderator: -Scott-
Hi lowndsie, without having more info, a rough guess would be that you have a poor earth connection relating to your dash. While the blinkers are not in use, the brake and charge light blinkers as an earth via the blinker globes. When you use one side of the blinkers, the earth is reduced and so the lights dull or flicker.
Try putting your hazard lights and see what happens
Cheers.

It happenend again this morning so i tried the hazard lights and they stopped flashing. Then I put the blinkers back on and it started again????
Hi lowndsie, it still sounds like a bad earth, it also could be just a bad connector fitting.
Try turning your blinkers on and just rattle any wire looms coming from your dash and see if it makes any difference.
A word of caution, to do as I indicated above, you will have to have the ignition switch on. If your vehicle is fitted with air bags that be careful what you do under the dash.
Cheers.
