the motor was fine..

the supercharger shat itself.....it lost all its teflon off the rotors...

but admitantly the engine would have ended up dying running that much through it...

get in contact with an engine importer and ask for an SC10 it is a toyota S/C that came off the 4AGZE 1.6 ltr motor or if you want a bigger S/C you could also ask about the SC12 which is off the toyota 1GGZE 2 ltr 6 cyl they should be about the same price about $350

You'll find quite a few people on the toymods.org.au forums selling the SC12 for $250 ;)

is there any kind of pulley you could get off a different model zook that would allow you to run the blower without getting a one fabbed up? Surely models with aircon or powersteering must have provisions for another belt?

Why would you bother i would have thought it would be easyer just fitting a 4agze (Pick up a halve cut for about $2000 - $2500) then you dont have to worry so much about stuff blowing up. There only 1600cc so u shouldnt have any prob's getting it licenced or if u want to still use a 1.3 you could just go a 4efte turbo (Halve cut costs about $2000) they put out 140hp at 6500rpm comp to a zook 1.3 that puts out 60hp at 6500rpm.
Or if all else fails just go a 1uzfe though i dont think the police will be to happy with that :D .
I was looking at supercharging the zook motor b4 and by the time i had rebuilt it put fuel inj on it brought the supercharger and fited it on custom manifolds a decent computer etc it was going to cost a lot more than $2000
though u may know ppl who can do mods cheap then i would say go for it.

Also calmini use to sell a super charger kit for the 1.3 but it was a rip off but still might be worth looking it up u may get some ideas of the pics.

Funny thing is the halfcuts you mentioned have been $2000+ then if where to include all the fabricating of bits and engineers certificate the budget . Not to mention if you could do all this yourself than your probably capable of setting up a fuel injected 1300cc

Where as if you get a second hand Supercharger and canabilise the parts from a wreckers then invest in a cheap ecu like the Megasquirt

So providing you aren't to rough
you got an engine that still bears the same engine number, so for random inspections by the cops you can play nice and innocent.. 'it was like that when i bought the vehicle, i assumed it was stock, i's been registered twice and no one mentioned it.... '

One thing i have considered is that SOHC Swift has rounded holes on the head and the Sierra has squared ones.. If you where to canabilise some fuel injectors from another car it may pay to use the swift head so you have a wider range on the bolt on side of things
(a spare head wchich can be ported and polished before going in)

But yeah it all really how you look at it.. I'm looking forward to my GTI N/A Engine (Sorry Munecito, Celtic,Zute, Spike, 85zook, Mark and all the other guys who are fed up with me saying this) but when it's complete i have every intention of a second Zuk as a project vehicle and maybe it'll have a lil turbo or charge

to do my charger conversion it only cost me $800... now yes i did the work myself..but i see no reason why any of you thinkng about doing it couldnt...

the wiring is going to be the hardest bit to do...

ive done it and have the diagram to show you how to do it .

you do not need a aftermarket ecu..

i was running 20 psi with the std 1600 ecu..

Mark,
I would love to see how this was done. I am assuming that you used a rising rate fuel reg and other peices like that. If you are able to post the pics that would be great because I am about to put EFI on my zook.

But yours blew up i was talking about having a reliable engine that has some good power, Though 20psi is a hell of a lot more boost than i would put into a stock 1.3, did u do any other mods to your 1.3 to strength'n it?

i also have a few books that tell you how to set up superchargers, turbos nos etc ill see if my mate can scan some of the pages so i can put them up.

mud4b did you lower your compression when you were running 20psi boost, if you didnt and was running 8.9:1 compression (i presume with about 95 octane fuel) how did you overcome pre detonation problems (from other engines i have seen you get detonation probelms from about 10psi) did you have water/methanol injection? Also did you make your maniflods your self if you did do you have any pics of them?
