hunting an MWB - diesel, petrol, turbo or no

Post by matt g »

Hi All,

My frustrating search for an MWB cruiser is still going on.

Ideally I want the BJ-73 that came with the factory turbo (13-BT) but I can't seem to find one that isn't a Japanese 2nd hand import.

I've driven the non-turbo 3B engine one, but it was really pokey going uphill. I drove an import model 13-BT engine, and it was nice.

So where to from here? Is the 3B with an aftermarket turbo comparable in performance / reliability to the 13-BT? Was the 13-BT even sold locally (anyone know when it was sold here?)? Is the petrol version (FJ-73) worth considering - there seem to be quite a few around, and I wonder if primarily city driving is going to stuff a diesel.

Anyone know where I can find prices on 13-BT engines? (and is even asking this question a sign of approaching mania)

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Matt.

What state are you in??

I know of a middy in VIC with Lifted Springs, 33inch BFG"S Rear air locker, aftermarket turbo and a few other bits and pieces.

Hi bigsteve,

I'm in NSW, but to be honest I'm willing to travel if necessary.

Cheers
