80 Series rear hub??

Post by MYTTUF »

Hey blokes,
I have had some issues with a rear inner axel seal on the 80, so replaced it yesterday. All done, cleaned the oil, wheel bearings re packed, adjusted handbrake, wheel back on and went for a drive to notice a scraping noise. Went back home and removed wheel to notice the disc scored from the calliper rubbing.  I had a quick look but with all the household dramas we are having at the moment, went to bed and will fix it after work.
My questions are........
*Are the wheel bearing not tight enough, keeping the hub assy out too far?
I think they are tight enough
*Will there be something holding the disc out too far from the handbrake assy?
This is what I reckon
*Can the inner dust seal be on backwards holding the hub assy out too far?
I dont think it can be
Whadda U Reckon????
I will eventually find the problem, I just hoping to speed up the process by asking here.

the inner seal won't usually leak unless the wheel bearing is loose or worn out, so the wheel bearing might be due anyway. which part of the caliper is scraping on the disk? hard to guess without looking at it. I hate it when you think you've fixed something, only to get slapped with another problem :(

The wheel bearings seem ok, but are prolly due for a change so I'll do that in time. The outer part that floats is rubbing on the outer disc. I have had another thought that maybee the wheel bearing cone was knocked out whilst I was tapping out the dust seal and the wheel barings are tight, just not in the correct position.
