Minin Spool diff lock for rovers?
Hi all just wondering if anyone has ever come across these little babies before. I want to permanently lock the rear landy diff in my rangie and a spool seems the easiest and least destructive........any htoughts?
I've got a WEAPON OF MOSS DETRUCTION
If you only used the vehicle in muddy fields and never on road you may get away with it. I did have a set of Firestone SAT tyres years ago that I reckoned the tread was so flexible that they didn,t require a differential,
and I regularly drove the 60km to and from work with the diff locked.(24 spline shafts) I had a cable operated difflock that was a little slow engaging and the axle splines would get burred, so driving around locked for a while on road would deburr them.
Bill.

A spool is exactly the same as a welded diff, so the only reasons to fit a spool over a welded diff are if you don't trust yourself to weld or you want to save a (tiny) bit of weight. I know a few people who have fitted them to road cars. They seem to be strong enough.
