Hmmm. I think it would be tough to register.

Maybe look at what doozer has done with the RR chassis and zook body.

cheers

If you are wanting to have it engineered then I reckon the best bet is to contact an engineer before you start and work with him to get what you want. This way you'll save your $$$ and it will save hassles as well.

Your only real issue is the 4 links. If it is done right tho, you shouldnt have a prob. I used and recommend OVERKILL coil kit....

hang on i live in nsw...

ít ain't that easy... now sure if you got enough money and you have everything engineered to comply with the CURRENT Australian Design Rules (ADR, not when the car was made) Then yes i'm sure the RTA would let the vehicle be registered... but god knows how many times you will be pulled over by cops who will sticker car on 'if in doubt clause' and the vehicle will have to go over the pits and you have to show every god damn certificate you have to get it cleared (heaven forbid a fault develops along the way requiring you to re-engineer it) :bad-words:

Now you got to insure it with a greenslip annually... i'm sure that's expensive. (more :bad-words: )

So then you also got to think of the annual pink slip (Road worthy certificate)... not expensive i'm sure (something like $30) but most mechanics will list every fault they find just to be on the safe side.. so you have to do all the repairs before you can re-register it for another 12months.

Look at this way, project will cost one thing... maintaining quite another. :?

So hey, it works like every other states, in the end you may just decide to risk it and hope no one takes note.

While where on the topic, a little birdie told me that in queensland once you register a vehicle in your name and pass the RWC you don't need to undergo annual road worthy certificates for the duration of your owniship, unless of course someone buy's it off you.. then to put it there name they need a RWC?
If this is true it would explain the number of QLD plates that reside in NSW homes.

My brothers suzi (drover really) is engineered with hilux diffs, motor (2.4dsl), gearbox & transfer etc. At the time it was engineered it was done with 38's.

In 3 or 4 years now he has never been pulled over by coppas or hassled by rta, many times they have stared and smiled but never pulled over.

He even drove to mascot every day for work whilst he was putting a 308 into his 4runner.

This was with 38 swampers, coil over rear and leaf front.

I dont think the 4 link in the front will be a good idea or will pass because it will be fighting against the draglink under suspension movement, go a 5 link in the front.

The person that said brakes would have to upgraded, they already would be by fitting the lux diffs.

If you want to PM me i can give u the details of an engineer to talk to 1st.

Just a thought if your going that far why not by a lux and convert to coils all your drive train is all ready there if you look around there where sum early modle luxes that were short wheel base not as short as a fj40 but much shorter than a standard lux this would be the way to go

Yep, No annual check, only required to sell registered.
That's why there are so many rust buckets and non-complianced vehicles up here. As long as you don't get pulled over then no-one checks.
