Re: Paris Dakar
been watching the history of paris dakar on tele the last few days on optus, love it, have a mate from our club that raced it several times, Simon Pavey, not sure if he still does..
Yeah. Andy Caldecott got a his first ever Dakar stage win. He broke his foot last year and bowed out from 7th place. He pretty much did it on his own last year too. Good to see he's in a team this year. Hope he does well.

also on free to air SBS at 6pm. They sure do have some awesum stacks!! Robbie Gordon stacked pretty good as did Colin McRae. There was one nissan that had diffs and crap spewed all over the place and the car still looked like a car. They had rolled at over 100 miles and hour!!! They sure do have pretty good roll cages. Nothing beats the trucks though, even if they are speed restricted to only 150 km/hr.

yea bummed on that, couldnt believe it when i read the news this morning...
Not surprising though really, its a hardcore race!
LOVE IT! the trucks go off and those bike riders work damn hard! I was watching it on the weekend on 12 on foxtel (not digital) had the history as well as the begining of this years race. Not sure what times its on though now, will have to check.
South Australian KTM rider Andrew Caldecott took out his second stage win of Dakar 2005 with victory in today's fast stages of competition by more than two minutes over Yamaha pilot David Fretigne.
Caldecott is currently holding down sixth overall some 41 minutes behind overall leader Cyril Despres. Caldecott is seven minutes behind Fretigne on overall time and nearly an hour ahead of seventh place rider Sala. Marc Coma is second overall, Alfie Cox third and Esteve Pujol in fourth.
More tragedy also struck the Dakar with two more riders losing their lives today after colliding with a truck. Their names have not been released as yet and it is unclear whether they were competitors in the Dakar or just riders following the event. Either way it is still another blow to everyone involved.
Outright Standings
Despres KTM
Coma KTM 16m06s
Cox KTM 20m39s
Esteve KTM 21m06s
Fretigne Yam 34m05s
Caldecott KTM 41m05s
Sala KTM 1hr33m29s
De Azevedo KTM 1hr39m49s
Blais KTM 2hr00m19s
Brucy KTM 3hr05m23s
