The tap on the bottom of my MQ fuel filter gave up and started leaking everywhere (cracked somehow). Well after a day of searching, no-one makes a tap without the water sensor (that i could find), no-one makes a conversion to run a cav type filter on the sd33 and ryco fuel filters arent worth there weight in used engine oil.

And MQ guys, the cost of that tap on the bottom of your fuel filter, from nissan, $42, for the love of god dont break it! :)

Give in and go see my nissan dealer :(

You can get a cav type filter tho, head unit + filter + clear bowl for $70, a bit of replumbing and making a braket to mount it and just totally replace the nissan filter setup with a cav one.

Is this the filter that sits away from the motor near the battery? or the main screw on fuel filter at the back drivers side of the motor behind the injector pump??

if its teh on motor one u will need to go to nissan as u said for parts on the lines,

but if its the one near the battery, half the models of SD33 dont have it at all and u can by pass it. My orig diesel didnt have it, but the second one did.... maybe be a cheaper way out......

Its the one on the motor, only filter i have on the mk. I just couldnt believe the price for a little bung to go into the bottom of the filter, all because its got the water indicator in it! :(

I may have been lucky, My fuel filter Spilt in half and leaked half a tank of fuel before i noticed it....
The fuel plus teh new filter was about $40....

at least that little indicator on mine didnt break :cool:

suprisngly the nissan filter and the ryco are the same price retail, $30!

And i really didnt like the look of the ryco filter, looking through the top of it i saw a massive amount of glue down the bottom, dont know whats going on there, but it sure didnt give me any confidence in the build quality.

Ryco, are Austrailias Leading Brand in Aftermarket Filters.
U may have looked at a bad one?
ive never had any probs.....

Ive just got the one filter, its a ryco, was on there when i got the car, just change it every 30k or so, haven't had a drama yet, wouldn't know what the factory one looks like :D

The little plug in the bottom of the fuel filter with a wire coming out for the water sensor started leaking on my truck,

A bit of araldite and it's been good for about 6000Km now
