i bought central locking kit, but can not seem to get it to work, i think the indervidual door locks do not seem to be strong enough to move the cars original door locks, any ideas?

window winders are easy, theres a little clip on them, sorta like a circlip style thing, i just ese a small arse screwdriver to push it parralell with the door skin, then the winder comes off.

sorry if i just gave you info you already know, but i was here so i thoguht i mightaswell just tell ya how to anyway...........good luck :D

quik update to that, if they have been put on right, you should be able to prise it off from the more open side of the winder ( the side under the actual crank part......) if there back to front, then its gonne be real farken hard......youll see what i mean when you get it off. and make sure you put them back the right way, cause your gonna be the next one that has to take them off again...................

you can by the proper thing to get them of from the srare parts shop or get a bit of flat steel about 40 mm wide and cut a u piece out of it then just push it so the two side pieces go around the winder and push both sides of the clip at once hope this helps  :D

in the past ive done the screwdriver thing

then used a proper tool

but what really works the best out of all of them ive found is an old rag lol

you just wedge the edge of it in and saw it back and forth till it picks up the clip... its so easy

sometimes though there will be a washer type thing in there.. depending on how it was put together you might need to put the rag on one or the other side of it

using the proper tool somtimes damages door trims...

got all motivated and decided to finish doing the central locking in my 70 series

anther tip... watch out for when the spring clip comes off the window winder... they generally fly anywhere and can be a PITA to find

try the rag you might be suprised how easy it is

if it doesn't work one way do it from 180 on the other side

or if that washer thing is there on the other side of it etc

dude, mine went in a banger 2WD b4 i relised what a 4b could do...
but i used heaps of packers and stuff to get the moter to run parralell with the rod that actuated the lockin mechanism........

what type of lock mech is in your rig, do you have the ones inthe same setup as the internal door handle or is it on top of the door for the world to see if you forgot to lock it??

its the locking mech that the world can not see, therefor the ones where the handle and lock are in one, but i think we have it sorted just could not be botherd running the cables...

for the back door, it is a different method all together, not even like the locks u can see, but i have figured away but i will not be able to hide the motor so ill have to either mount it to the door so u can see it or just not have it for the back, ill play around with it and see how it all goes,
adam (bad_r) were you asking me if my window goes down, answer to that is yes, plus i fixed the other problem i had when i did that bolt i didnt know what it did, so now my window goes down straight and goes up straight, YAY no more ratle in my door. ;)
cheers,
