24V questions

Post by pjhsv »

G'day...i'm about to buy a 24Volt Nissan Patrol, and I have a few questions before I delve into owning a car that has an electrical system that I don't fully understand.

1. If I get a flat battery out in the bush, will someone, with say a 12Volt Hilux, be able to give me a jump start?

2. What are my options with winches? ARB sell a 24Volt 8,000 lb winch, but it's over $1000 more expensive than the 12Volt version....

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

i had a 24V patrol. i found that most of the time if i did get a flat, it was only one of the battrys, and i could jump it. but it was a manual, so if i couldnt jump it i had to talk the neighbours into pushing it for me..... im suprised that the 24V winch is that much dearer, id shop around. also at 24V you have less current draw than at 12V, so the winch cables, relays etc.. would all be smaller......and i assume cheaper, but then again.....who knows

you could also go for a PTO winch i supose, that might be cheaper
