how hard is it to fit without droppin the front hangers? i know guts didnt drop his but it looks pretty tight. is the chaos xover easier to fit without droppin hangers or tha snake? and droppin hangers not an option, too hard to pass pits

I think it will be pretty hard to fit hysteer without drop hanger. With standard x-over like from choas you will be able to do it. I have standard x-over without drop hangers, it's tight but fits. The trick is to use a flat pitman arm and rotate the box as high as you can. I use a 80 series arm.
You are in WA I have heard from the guys from OL in balcata (when they where doing lane change test) that the engineer prefered the standard x-over arm rather then hysteer. He is saying that there is too much leverage. This is second hand info so not sure how true it is!! You need to get approval from DPI before doing the job!

You can get away with stock hangers as long as you have no flex. I have dropped hangers and the pitman is fairly tight against the chasssis but my TRE is still bent from impacting the spring.

I call BS, I have high steer, great flex (approx 21 inches) and standard hangers. There is one spot during steering movement and suspension circal that it JUST touches but I can`t remember where the steering has to be or where the suspension has to be or where it touches, FARK I have to finish this pos and get to driving it again It touches by such a little amount it doesn`t effect it, well not that I have noticed.beebee wrote:You can get away with stock hangers as long as you have no flex.

I had problems with too much leverage. Snapped 1 knuckle stud and the rest were loose. New stud and some thread lock seems to have fixed the problem though

tell me about it bought me car 8 months ago, ended up bein tha biggest lemon, spent to much time fixin and ponderin than drivin it, but the ends worth the time (not tha money but )

i am going to use a 2WD hilux pitman arm, it is flat almost 1/2" drop, has a tapered hole in it for the drag link and is only about 4 inches long

Mine is pretty much the same, but I am using an 80 series pitman arm which is flatter and I have angled the box slightly to the arm just misses the frame.

i had an 80 series arm I found this one and seams a better deal, it is shorter which is good when you have pushed your axle 5.5" forward

i had an 80 series arm I found this one and seams a better deal, it is shorter which is good when you have pushed your axle 5.5" forward
From the pic it looks like I have pushed my box forward a bit more. But I have only moved my diff forward 1.5" . So this would help with the 80 series arm.

The pitman arm off a 2wd Lux which I tried to use had a smaller spline where it bolts onto the steering box. If you find one which fits can you let me know which model to be looking at.

I remember someone (possibly ORI or Nick) telling me that the shortest pitman available was from a diahatsu somethingorother.
Maybe that will jog somebody's memory
I have 2" dropped hangers and my TRE on my draglink acts as a bumpstop. Probably have about 25mm clearence off chassis. TRE is probably bent 20mm. So without dropped hangers, you'll have a fight on your hands but as Guts said - it is possible.

Which end of your drag link hits? Drivers?
One thing that I haven`t meantion but should have (I`d forgotten) is I have extended my front bump stops 30mm, but this was done for other reasons not for clearance issuses with high steer. I did the bump stops for tail shaft, shocks and now sump clearance, also since I now want to start doing some winch challenges aswell as rocks I need it setup so it can be jumped aswell as crawl.
