Sierra or Jimny?

Have decided to look into getting a 'good' Suzuki for around town (wife & kids), light tracks and some beach. Leaving it standard except slightly larger A/T tyres. Cant decide between a coily Sierra or a jimny or are they much of a muchness?

Jimny has EFI and more power.

Other other than that not much i can think of underneath.

coilers were only made for a very short time, so spares and after market stuff is a bit rarer...I'd go fora jimny, efi is a bonus, and more stuff will be available for them..christover

How hard would it be to fit 235/75 15 tyres on a jimny?

coilers are not any more comfy or economicle then the next sierra. only difference is a bit of noise insulation. a little bit less vibration in general however because they spend so much time hitting the bumpstops pot holes and speed bumbs if taken at a cruise will be much more uncomfortable.

If price is an issue, coillys are a bit cheaper and despite what some people are saying, much comfier than leaf spring models. If you haven't driven one you wouldn't know. If the suspension is rooted then yes it will be hitting the bump stops. My coilly with new suspension is worlds apart from the cheaper leaf spring models and no less capable. Aftermarket wise there are a lot less options though.

Another mate said to just get a late model leaf sierra but I thought it would be worth it to get coils :?:

I have an old 81 sierra no roof, rough, hose it inside & out, take it through anything, but I thought use it for offroad and a good one for the 'family' outings. Capable but more comfortable.

I wouldnt recomend the back seat of a sierra whilst 4wding for anyone let alone children. its darn bumpy. If you want something for family build a lwb vitara.

If you are carrying kids in the back, go the Jimny. They have side intrusion bars, a lot safer. You can get a reasonable 99-2000 model for between $10000 - $12000.
