didn't know swb came with turbo, or even 4.2 for that matter. Is it aftermarket turbo?

Mine used about 12 lt per hundred (no turbo). It went around OZ with a 18 foot caravan befoer I bought it & it averaged 17lt/100.

Standard 4.2 diesels about 20 to 24 mpg at 100kph
Turbo 4.2 similar but often a couple less (18 to 20) due to driving styles, bigger wheele, higher suspensions etc.

i'm not sure what brand the turbo conversion is but its definately a 4.2
i've looked at the mav again, (more closely) and there seems to be a few oil leaks that have been covered up power steering pump is leaking too, Is that common? and i think they are asking a bit too much. :bad-words:

Yeah the powere steering does leak, mines leaking from the hoses. It dousnt drip but it is collecting dust & a bit moist in that area. I dont have any other leaks than that.

Check the RH rear axle seal, they always leak. You will notice the oil coming from the vents in the disc. Also try to get a test drive from dead cold as deisels can show a lot of symptoms of age right from start up (white smoke , poor idle, stalling etc...). There are a few other things to look at, Bogged has a list on his website, click on the link in his signature.
Mind you I think a lot of these problems will be on high mileage vehicles which have been treated roughly as mine has had little work over its life.
