GQ TB42 air cleaner and snorkle

I am looking at putting a snorkle on my tb42 gq shorty..... however the section of pipe between the pre-cleaner and air filter housing is in bad condtion, it does not seal etc... so i am wondering if others have had this problem and what they have done.... also do i really need to keep the assembly for drawing warm air from around the extractors....???

I'm thinking i might be able to go to a truck place and get a section which would replace this pipe.....

there have been people out there replacing their worn out pipes with vn-vs commodore air intake pipes as they're stronger and apparently a near bolt on with some minor modifications.

Also be wary of what brand snorkel you get.
I would go for the Safari brand, even though they are more expensive because my Airflow one is crap.
Poorly made, supplied hose clamps too small, and the design makes it VERY hard to get it to the point where I am confident that it is water tight.
Its been on a day and I'm already looking at selling it and buying something better.

Mine is a TD42, so yours may be different, but I'd check it out first.

apparently the tb42 and td42 snorkles are the same but i'll keep that in mind when it happens

Anyone know where you can buy safari snorkels cheap. Airflow snorkels are only $290 compared to safari snorkels $420. These prices are in Townsville. I know that alot of Sydney and Melbourne companies sent parts to NQ and are cheaper even with freight. I spoke to someone who said he bought a safari snorkel in Brisbane for about $350. Is that true?
I would appreciate it if someone could direct me to a company who sells safari snorkels cheap. Thanks.

Over here, we pay the same for the Airflow, but $530 for the Safari.

I got rid of all of the original plastic and fitted a 3 inch round plastic tube to air box. I am just waiting on a rectangle to round piece to finish it of.

use the one off the original piping? Thats what I used

Was this on a Airflow snorkel?
Did you connect this straight onto the snorkel, or from the pre cleaner?
