I've been looking at 2.8 turbos with a friend and we came across quite a few with oil leaks from around the timing case and sump, so I suggested he make a few calls to find out why as mine looks all original still, and not a drop with plenty of kays under its belt.
In the end a country service manager was able to help us as they deal with quite a few.
the 2.8s occasionally suffer with a little extra turbo lag when the kays get up on them, this is due to slight stretching in the timing chain.
the other interesting thing that led to that was that it's common for people to re-use the original seals when replacing or repairing the chain which leads to the oil leaks we've been seeing, he said that the seals must be replaced at the same time.
He also said the cracking of exhaust manifolds was relatively common (they remove them and have them re-welded successfully), will get round to replacing mine soon!
Just thought it was interesting and worth passing on, (bear in mind it is 1 service managers opinion so not gospel)

What side has your exhaust manifold cracked on?
It's also common for the 3LT V6 on the Left Hand Side.
Mine was not able to be welded and worked out cheaper to buy extractors than replace with factory issue.
There is also different pricing for factory issue between the left and right hand side.

Hey noisey,
only a straight 4 so just the 1 manifold (which is on the drivers side )
It has cracked across the top between 2 and 3 pot.
(it's not noisey like on a petrol, so been a bit lazy, can't imagine it's helping power wise though!!)
