I said it after the 1st TTC and I`ll say it again now.

I think that -
If you got 3rd you sit out 1 year.
If you got 2nd you sit out 2 years.
If you got 1st you sit out 3 years.

Top Truck in the USA is something like, if you got in you can`t enter again for bla bla years. Not just if you placed.

Top 10 from last year are in.
Masters eg: have done both years are in.
Sponsors pick 10 rigs.
And the ballance will be chosen by the public.
I think that is the go. 8)

What a load of C R A P !!!! ( not you cheezy, the entey format)

10 from last year thats fine, its good to see some one defend there title!

Masters WTF so this means someone that has gotten in the previous 2 years and didn't finish in the top 10 has the automatic right to go back and WINCH to the finish and end up in the same placing again!!!

There are a couple of Rigs that just plain S U C K that have been in there 2 years and they don't even attempt to DRIVE an OBSTICLE they just PULL there WINCHES!!!!!

And 10 RIGS picked by SPONSORS!!!!

I can think of three Rigs that are sponsored (by sponsors of TTC) and didn't finish in the top ten because they either drive like H O M O S or there winches aren't fast enough!!!!

One that comes to mind is M@nn#l motors STOCK nissan petrol, come on really is this thing worthy of a position in TTC, NO its not but they are a sponsor of the event!!!!

Not all of us have sponsors for various reasons, whether it be that we are new to the COMPETITION SCENE (but not new to ROCK CRAWLING) or there are to many TRUCKS in the one location that getting sponsorship is tuff!

So 10 for the top 10 placings last year

10 from sponsors, thats 20 so far.

3 or 4 so called MASTERS (masters of what a winch cable).

So this leaves 6 or 7 spots for us guys that really want to compete and show some people you don't need BIG bucks and BIG sponsors to get in there and be competitive!!!!!

Man i thought the VOTE system was byass (as sponsors could quite easily get there rigs in) but this is a friggen JOKE!!!!!

I am sure with all these great 4wd MINDS organising it they could come up with a better way!!!

Just my view on the topic others may disagree but i am looking at it from a WANNABE COMPETITOR that now has little to no chance of getting in!!

So do these guys want to PROMOTE the sport and let it grow or just look after there sponsors and keep looking after the same guys year in year out, i dont know about you but that will get pretty boring!

The first year they had 30 rigs, the second they had the same and now for the third time,30 rigs!

COME ON surely with the amount of sponsors and officials they could accomodate another 20 or so rigs!!!

Yes the Whole thing does get to political, its the same with most sports they only look after the BIG $$$$$$ players but forget about the TRY HARD that TRIES 10 TIMES harder to GET IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know that there is only one or two guys on here that have a great deal with TTC but if they would like to PM me with someone i can contact in regards to my views that will be greatly appriciated, i am already drafting a letter to 4WD MONTHLY for them to put in their LETTERS OF THE MONTH!

For once I agree with POS.

Whats the good of calling it tough truck if they only allow registered rigs in. We need an American style rock crawling event! No mud, No water, No grass..............just rocks. With the way the authorities are going it looks like all our rigs will be un-registered rigs soon.

Thats my 2c worth.

If you can find an area in Aus like the US has then this will be one awsome event. But in Aus i am yet to see something that nature has made this way. Man made obsticals suck.

This is so true.
I have over the last 2 years driven a few of these and only at Nissan Trails just gone did I do any good on one of them. I got to the same point as Ball sac n Duncan, as well as quite a few other rigs.

The Sponsers have to get a spot so they can win there prizes back.
I don't mind paying to enter the nissan trials etc It was only $90 for the
weekend and the money ends up with a club. But to pay $1000 to enter
something and get 6 ten minute drives and the guy in the car in front is a sponser or a member of the club? running the event , and they charge
people to watch you . Maybe it will change this year , Good luck to the
people who enter but its not for me.

Cheers.

POS you are confused the List goes like this.
Top ten from last year.
Next ten will be chosen by the sponsors so you all have a chance at this.It does not mean the sponsors vehicles.
The rest will be publically chosen.
And yes they have to be registered for insurance reasons which I think is stupid as most trucks will run different tyres to what they are engineered with so does that mean there insurance will still cover them????
Anyway must get to work to get the buggy engineered and registered.

In SOME cases yes I do winch lots. Why cause by their rules, sometimes it is better to do so  This is one thing I would like to see changed for future events.
This is where Nissan Trials are good, once you have stopped for 3 secs you are out. Hence making everybody drive harder so they DON`T get stuck. I just think that you should be allowed 1 reverse per stage.

I also agree with you on the rigs that you meantioned.

I agree with both POS and Guts on the fact that some cars love using there winch and that is boring but on the other hand lining up an obstacle and just punching the throttle doesn't take much skill either that is more winch challenge stuff. They need to have an event that actually requires the driver using some skill and the navigator.Every one has there own opinion on what style of event they like driving so I am NOT having a go at anyone I would just like to see an event like that.Idealy I guess TUFF TRUCK would have to have all style of events to keep everyone happy but I doubth it is possible.

FWIW, winches are for recovery not competition. Id rather drive half way than winch the whole way.

You've got a time limit and as long as your not damaging the track, go for it!!!!

Something i have said for a long time. If they rely on the competitors third party/comprehensive insurance i think they are heading for a big fall!!
1 any motor vehicle third party, comprehensive insurance is instantly void when in competition.
2 as soon as any unroadworthy/unengineered mods are allowed any insurance or rego is void as it is a condition of insurance and rego that the vehicle be in a 100% roadworthy and legal condition. As soon as any
non-DOT tyres (swampers, boggers etc), beadlocks, etc are fitted the vehicle is no longer roadworthy so the insurance is void.

If it comes to the crunch and someone is injured and the competition organisers rely on the competitiors insurance to cover them the sh!t will hit the fan. Insurance companies dont like to pay out any claims and will do anything to get out of them, if they can find a way to not pay out they will!!

Organisers of competitions need to realise that road insurance and registration means absolutely nothing in competition and need to get adequate cover.

im not a competitor but i think its a bit tough only 3sec pause and no reversing wat if u dont line it up write not every one gets it rite the fist time they should allow a little longer time and at least one reverse wat happens with the vehicles with a big turn circle they must find it hard to do with out revering:?:

Like you said not possible, look at this site and the range of driving styles it covers, rock crawling, navigation, winch challenges. Choose the type of driving you like and stick to it, no good being a jack of all but master of none.

just my thoughts coming from an outsiders view...........

why are you guys concerned with what happens to tuff truck? sure it probably is the best known event in Aus, but u guys now have the xrcc comp, and i thought the XRCC would suit you guys much better???

it's a style of driving you like (no mud), it's HEAPS cheaper to enter (both for spectators and entrants), and its run 3 times a year.

i know after going up on the weekend i'd rather watch a dedicated rock crawling comp than a mix of this and that.

why don't ya just boycott the tuff truck comp and stick with the xrcc (and others)........in the end the better comp will come out on top, and i'd rather watch new rigs being built everyday and DRIVEN hard out on the rocks.

just my 2c :?
