werd y'all..
been having wierd squeals since ive had my 33's on for a while and figured its the powersteering getting a hell of a workout.
ive just come out from under the hood and i noticed the idler pully isnt rotating. theres plenty of p/s fluid and its not leaking (been full for a while). There is usually a strong smell after starting the car up as well.. is this the belt melting? also i noticed last night no PS as I reversed out the drive and I watched in horror this arvo as the belt was stationary for a min or two and then slowly began to move once the belt had warmed up.
anyway.. if that idler pully is spose to rotate freely then i guess thats teh issue. are these things usually pretty easy to source? like just a matter of giving 4x4 parts a call?
just thought id confirm my suspisions before id commence the goosechase for parts.
THANKS!

i tried to wd40 the idler pully without any luck..
no, it won't turn by hand unless you can pull it hard enough to turn the motor too.
the bearing in the idler pully is probably about $4 from a bearing shop - unless it is a 1-piece nylon pulley with integral bearing - then about $13. if this has been happening for a while I'm surprised you haven't snapped the belt.
