DIY extended brakelines vs Snake etc on Hilux LN106

Has anyone made up their own extended front brake lines (for a Hilux LN106) from Pirtek / Enzed stuff? or have you sprung for the :
1)Superior Engineering $88 each, any length; or
2)Snake $120 pair, 100mm longer
or another idea I haven't thought of.

At the moment my brake lines are like the proverbial "banjo strings" on full front flex. The OME shocks probably aren't too far away (inch or 2) from being the next limiting factor. Flexy and low is the goal.

How long are your brake lines?

Also, how do you install the suckers?

First things first.NEVER even contemplate making brake parts. Besides the risk of failure i could imagine trying to explain a non approved brake line to an insurance company in the event of an accident. Can nearly hear the laughter of the claims department from here. Fitting them is easy just swap old lines for new , check for any rubbing , pulling or crimping at all suspension/steering postiions and bleed system. Without being rude if you have to ask how to fit a brake line i would recommend paying out a couple of hours labour for a pro to do it. Brakes are not worth f*@%ing with if your not 100% sure. By the way before people think im a smartarse the only reason i know about brakes is i was tought by my brother who is a mechanic.

I got a set of extended brake lines from BBM (I think) although they may have been snake racing ones. But anyway it came with the 3 lines needed and are plenty long enough and was not much more $100.

I have the snake ones. Heeps long enough with the 21 inch of front travel I have.

Not sure if this will work for the LN 106 - When I did the mods to the tail of my LN 130 4Runner I just went to the wreckers & picked up a duplicate brake line. On the 4Runner the flexible has a male end and female end of the same size. So it was simply a case of undo the diff end of the flex tube, fit the pipe from the wrecker to it, attach the loose end to the fitting onto the diff housing and bleed the brakes.

Or work out how much longer you want em, take of your brake lines, take em to a brake place, and they'll make em up for you on the spot, I think was about $60 for my lux and $80 on my mates GU, made to what I wanted.

Pirtek, enzed etc can't and won't help you.

They don't have the connectors or hose and will just shrug thier shoulders.

Pirtek on Beaudesert Rd wouldn't make me any brake lines, the guy behind the counter didn't let me finish asking if they did them, just flatly said no.

Pirtek and Enzed are not licensed or insured to make automotive brake lines so don't bother asking them.

Forget the big 4wd guys as they will just get them made up by a brake and clutch specialist then put their 20 - 100% markup on them and sell them to you.
Look for a local brake guy and just go there.

I paid $75 for all 3 lines to be made for my lux and they are about 700mm long each.

Also, if u are unsure how to fit them, get a machanic to do it, your brakes save yours and other peoples lives, don't fcuk with them if your not 100% sure what your doing.

such are the laws on brakes that the wrechers are not suposed to sell used ones, and if they are caught the get massive fines......go to the local brake people and get them to do the lot for you, as the rest said it is no worth the shite if somthing stuffs up

Cheers guys, I'll get onto a local brake joint and get them to do it, it certainly make sense to leave such important safety issues in the hands of the pros. Insurance would laugh at me with homemade/installed brake components..

if ya got a welder then cut the bracket on top of the chassis and weld it on the side. did it on mine and cost nothin and copes pretty easy with a 4" susp lift. just be careful wen pullin the bracket down not to kink tha copper pigtail and cover the brake line with a wet cloth or sumthin in case your a crap welder

Got Brakes West in Myaree to make up two new lines 500mm, $45 each

Midas in North Freo put them on for $20
