No 1 - More traction (twin airlockers)
No 2 - Bigger boots
No 3 - Mods to get flex but still fit bigger boots (lift and or cut)
No 4 - Gearing and power to turn bigger boots (transfer gears and engine mods)
Easy really :)

Dont know if you could fit it in budget but some bar work and spotties need to be fitted in the list somewhere.
Paul.

No there is 9 grand to be spent all up. Just put 3 aside for actually buying the thing in the first place. What model would you buy? SWB NT? SWB WT? LWB NT?

If you are going to go lux diffs a 1.3 narrow track lwb with the chassie cut behind the rear shackles. Further the springs are inboard the more flex at the wheels and more room to turn before the rubber hits the springs up front.
Its a wheelbase thing

First thing I would do now is put a reliable fuel injected motor in it. After that I would just wheel it till I understood what I enjoyed and wanted to do with it. If it’s beach work I would look at 30 inch mud terrains and a locker or two. (have a look at what old gold and nicbeer have done. ) If it was something for mud and rocks I would budget a DD in that $9000

holy crap, you are joking aren't you. I would never recommend 500m extended shackles talk about bump steer and some insane handling characteristics
