Are all Hilux IFS Rear Axles the same?

Post by Scott »

Is the WMS distance on rear axle in the back of all IFS Hiluxs the same? So if I go and buy a rear axle out of an IFS Hilux, am I certain to get a wider track?

The reason I ask is my mate went to a wrecker yesterday and the guy told him the current Hilux rears are wider than the rear in the previous IFS models, and the was bugger all difference in previous models between an IFS rear and solid axle rear.

Its been posted up a few times and I think the differance is 10mm.You can fit the later model axles in ealier model by cutting them down.

Yes the IFS rear housing is a fair bit wider than solid axle housing (about 80mm wider)- sounds reasonable that the very late IFS rear diffs could be a little wider. Almost certain that earlier housings from 4 runner/ Surf's with coil suspension were wider by about 10mm, but have a lot of fruit to remove if putting under leaf truck.
