Power Windows......GRRRRRRRRRR!!

Post by bigbluemav »

Hi All

Why would a window wind down, but not back up again? Tried both switches (driver's and P/R) and same thing, goes up easy but not down.

When I pulled off the door trim, to wind the window up with a pair of multigrips, I tried the motor and it definitely only goes one way (down).

Any elctrical guru's have any idea's??

The plastic gear is stripped? Is the motor making noises?
theres another thread in the nissan section on it.

If they are rarely used, the contacts would have shit on them. my rear windows dont work now since they are never used.

Its the left rear window, which is rarley used. The plastic bit is fine, hence the fact that the window goes down.

When the door trim was off, I hooked up the motor and it ran beautifully, but only one way. Which contacts wear out? I'm assuming the "down" ones on the motor itself. How do I check these??

Ta for the help guys!!

You will probably find that its just lack of use.. the contact for the down is probably coverd in crap. Ive replaced the motor once before thinkin that was it, it worked for months and not now.

does it work downwars from the drivers door controls, and the one on the door itself? Do all the otehrs work?

Hi Bruce

All the others work fine, and it works from botht the driver's control and the pass rear control.

It is the window used least though. Are contacts hard to clean?? Pulling the door trim is no trouble, I should have left the motor out though!!
