new prado t/d

Post by hienuf »

I recently hired a forby from the local hertz for a couple of days and it was meant to be either a landcruiser/patrol....live axle vehicles......but as it happens they stuffed up and had a new t/d prado auto 1,000kms.......after a bit of swearing/crying i took it as our trip to gembrook was all planned and was not going to spoil it.......

i must admit i did'nt think much of the prado untill we got onto the decent tracks and what a gr8 forby ......it copped a canning as it was wet(scary when car is not yours) but it did an awsome job following my mates cars 80s cruisers with muddys. yes got bogged many times(gay tyres) but all in all you can see the potential in these vehicles.....excellent ground clearence and decent app/dep angles......the front wheel travel is cr8p but i must admit the rear is awsome(again for a mid spec off roader)i felt really secure driving the prado in places i would just get a cruiser/patrol through.....in std form......

the only drawbacks which is nothing new....turbo lag.
going down steep hills...(in the wet made it so much scary)not enough gearing....again nothing new (autoi)

fuel econ was excellent when i returned the vehicle i filled up 50 bucks and think i did around 400kays of pedal to the metal driving both on and off road........good stuff toyota!!!
