hi all, I've priced some diff centres, I nearly got one for $260, but the ratio was wrong. If I put an lj80 (3.9:1) axle onto a sierra (4.1:1) how much of a difference might that make? ie one 4.1 diff and one 3.9. this is not a performance 4by, mainly just bush bashing, so the slight slip probably won't be noticed.
the local (reputable) wreckers will give me the entire axle for $260, but it's 3.9:1.
Any ideas? next nearest quote for a 4.1:1 diff is $400

Tj , Hang on to ya horses - for a start I pretty shore no lj ratios where ever made in 3.9. 3-9 is a sierra 1.3 ratio and its pumpkin is slightly larger then a lj or 1ltr sierra It also runs a larger flange bolt pattern for the uni . _ljs are 4-55 for the 80 ,and 4.73 for the 50.
1ltr sierra is 4.1 -. Now I think Lj 80 Lj50 and 1ltr sierra can live in the same housing - But the 3.9 won't fit in there anyway. :(
Do you know what diff you have ?
Maybe a better solution.
