Towing Capabilites

Towing Capabilites
G'day All,
What are your opinions of towing capabilities of a feroza SPV 92 model. I'm thinking of getting a little tinnie (3.8m) on a trailer. Any input would be appreciated.
Cheers

It should tow it fine. I've towed a small tipping box trailer with a Suzuki Quad and other stuff in it, plus had my Feroza fully loaded inside and had a full 330 litre luggage pod on the roof racks. I towed it through the Adelaide Hills and was surprised how well it went.
Even got up to 140km/h overtaking on a long straight stretch.

thats it?! you guys.. dont be afraid to load those suckers... i was shocked by how much i could pull with my lil us rocky... at first i was afraid to go over 1,000 pounds... but after a year of owning the rig... i got real daring an loaded a trailer with a ton an a half of dirt and pulled that in the city... had no problems taking off or stopping either... didnt take it out on the freeway though... my tow package is rated for 1,000 pounds max.. talk about lil birdies on steriods!

No dramas with the tinnie dude... I tow my speed boat all the time with mine... about 930kg's... no dramas except the feather like steering... really need new shocks...

I have towed an offroad buggy (The Bundy Rumbler) with out any problems and it weighs about a ton. But I wanna tow the oldies offroad camper trailer with the roza but unless it can do it leagly i can't cause it will void the insurance on the trailer. I've looked through all the manuals but can't find anything.
Does any know of an official figure of the towing capacity of these mighty trucks?

I used to tow our 2 dirt bikes all over the place with sh!t-loads of camping and riding gear, the dog, the Missus, enough water and booze for a few nights out in the bush, fuel, comms gear, etc. (about 800kg) and had no probs at all. Did a few demo "emergency" stops out west from about 120kph, coz the Navigator was getting nervous about Skippy's mates...again, was impressed by stopping capabilities.
Have been back and forth over the Divide heaps like that, and never had too many dramas climbing, even on the big looooong hils...third gear will do jus' about any hill you run into.

Just found it written in my manual on page 17-2 1500kg braked and 500kg without brake. I have the Daihatsu F300, F310 Series (AUS) Owners Manual, Copyright 1994.
Does anyone have a towbar rated to 1500kg? The haymen reese website lists on for the roza at only 1000kg.

Well...I have just come back from Sydney visiting the folks. I rented (one way) a 7x4 trailer with a wire cage. In the back of the Ferwoaza (seats removed) I had a 72cm TV, 6 large speakers and various sound gear along with clothing, food etc.
In the trailer I had a chest of drawers, chairs, a microwave, and a heap of other stuff, the trailer was full.
I put a tarp over the whole lot (bad weather) which didn't help with wind resistance. I pulled it all the way back to QLD with the aircon running and averaged 90-100kph...pretty dam good. Only took one hour longer than the trip down.
These suckers can pull as long as you don't mind slowing down on hills.

My parents used their feroza to haul their caravan of 1100kg's (loaded) on holidays through the spanish Pyrenee mountains. At steep hills on the highway he topped at 50 kph in 2nd!! other than that they managed to average around 100 kph with reasonabe fuel consumption driving mostly in 5th.

i just bought a tow bar so i could move house, i was rather happy with how well the feroza pulled my loaded 6x4 (has a full metal canopy on it) and my dads big ass trailer loaded with junk (well not all of it junk).
if i ever got motivated enough i could turn my 6x4 into a nice little camper trailer, i think the feroza would lug it out to the beach through the sand.

They seem to tow ok.. I have a 7x4 with a kindof juig my mate made for me.. it is for holding the front wheel of a motor bike, and lets me hold either 1 in the centre or 2 on either side...
Seemed to tow 1 bike down to philip island and back no worries...
My engine is sick as a dog.. burning about 7.5-1ltr per 150-200k's...
So can't see it being usefull to tow for a while cause bottom end has dropped off heaps.
