Just wondering where i would stand , Oem for each item body and chassis , or for the whole car ? 2.when they say Oem for the body panels , sam mentioned front gaurds grill ect hood, Is there a percentage of oem here, by the rules looks like every thing up to and including the legends class is 100% oem look ,

The way it works is that it doesent matter what vehicle or vehicles the rig is based on but it must "look" like a vehicle. So you could start out with a Nissan and throw on a Suzuki bonnet, grill, guards - use flat sheet for the rear quarters and door skins and call the rig a Suzuki. You can narrow the front end (bonnet) and cut the guards for more clearance bt it still must have the bonnet, grill and guards all working together as they do on a suzuki.
Still got to work this one out. But basically for the purpose of running the event it doesent make any difference what the entry fee is because the entire entry fee goes back to the competitors in prize money and shirts. For example in the BOTC we took 16x$150 = $2400 less $400 for the competitors shirts. So the prize payout came to a total of $2000 (which was split $600, $400, $200 and then $200 for each of the 4 individual section winners).
So for WE Rock Im thinking somewhere between $175 and $250 for entry should give us a decent prize pool.
I think as long as tony's neck is still sore and he can't compete then we should make the entry fee $250.00. If he is better then $25.00 should cover it!
Another VERY important thing that we are looking at covering in the entry fee is payment for Medical Staff to be on hand all weekend (eg. St John's Ambulance).
I think if it costs an extra $30.00 per entry than thats a small price to pay to have trained medics there.

One other thing - for this year I think that Im going to just run this series and not compete at all. I guess i had alot of fun at BOTC being the front man.
In terms of the series winners going to the states it looks like the first world championship wont be untill the end of next year which is a good thing because it gives us another year to sort our selves out. This means that this years series wont result in in an Aust team being sent to the states to compete.....this will happen next year. Hopefully we should have the series well and truely sorted by the end of this year and have judges and course designers trained up so that I should be able to compete again next year. Time will tell though.
As for dates we are totally signed up for the 12/13 March at Rover Park.
The next round will be at Milbrodale (Tuff Truck event site) on the 18/19 June. This location isnt totally signed up yet but at this point there isnt any reason why this wont happen.
Third round with a bit of luck will be in Victoria.
And the finals will be back near Sydney (possibly Milbrodale again) or at Rover Park.
Doesent look like we will run an event in Qld this year>> which seems a bit strange. So no complaining that we arnt trying to look after all you southerners!!!!

This will just be a seperate part of the entre fee - So the cost may be $200 plus $30 for the ambulance levy. May actually offload some of the ambulance levy onto the spectators cause they are just as likely to fall over and hurt themselves - something like $2 per spectator or something.

Sam, i'm sure the rescue guys from Tuff Truck and Woodpecker would like to be involved (on standby) in WE Rock rnd 2 at Milbordale. as in the private consultants with all the hydralic gear (jaws of life, respirators etc) not the TLCC recovery team.

Jeremy, Team Carnage Crew are running a nitrous injected subaru flat 4 in their buggy, so it must be allowed in Pro Rock, or CalRock.
Probably something for Sam to look into further.
so long as the nitrous tank is not in a bad spot, i.e. protected in the case of a roll over, that'd be a mad idea.
imagine the crowd response when you purged the lines at the bottom of a steep rock climb.

chris- Jason from carnage crew told me that they only compete in the UROC series, but have done some calROCs...so it must be legal in the UROC series..(dunno if the rules are different than proroc etc?)

Yep - although I think that it would need doors to comply with WE Rock. Those pics are from UROC.

Using rear steer incurs a 5 point penalty per obstacle. IE once you use rear steer on an obstacle you recieve the 5 point penality but you can rear steer as much as you want during the rest of the obstacle.
And just to clarify - an obstacle is a short course comprised of 2 to 8 gates. And the competition generally has 10 obstacles in total run over two days.
After running the BOTC Im thinking that for this year Im not going to compete so I can put more time into getting this series happening.
Now just looking at the vehicle numbers that we have at the moment Im thinking that it will be better to combine the two classes - (super modified and legends) and run them as one class. I think that with the current range of buggies built that it will produce a better competition with everybody intogether for the first year. Also remember that there isnt going to be a world championship for this years series winners - so combining the classes wont effect this for this year. Next year will have to have the classes seperated to determine the class winners for the worlds.
Also after watching the fullsize rigs at BOTC Im thinking that we might run a seperate class for these rigs and really gear this class towards the Tuff Truck style rigs. This class will basically run the same lines as the buggies but with a little bit more room. Probably call it something like Full Size Unlimited and have the vehicle specs something along the lines of :
Full size tub
Must run doors, bonnet, guards and grill
Must run a windscreen if it carnt be unbolted
Must run a factory roof if it carnt be unbolted
Factory chassis - can be shortened within limits
Front engined
Rear steer allowed
Hydraulic suspension allowed (including individual control)
Any tyre size
Roll Cage etc
Like I say this class will be geared towards the Tuff Truck sort of vehicle although wont require registration. This sort of class should really appeal to alot of existing competitors and existing spectators.

Legands and Unlimited will allways run the exact same courses anyway. Its just the legends usually incure more penalties.

Its like the Mogrover - I wouldnt drive it off the end of a ramp and delibrately roll it cause it would make a mess. So Unlimited is not the place for this rig - would end up with too much body damage.

I don?t know if many of you guys follow what the US guys are doing or the Europeans for that matter but we really have got some serious catching up to do. We want to be able to go to the World championships and we want to be competitive.
So here?s the plan:
We will be forming an organization that will have the controlling rights to the Australian rounds of WE Rock known as WE Rock Australia. The purpose of this organization will be to promote and direct the sport of rock crawling and make Australian rock crawling competitive on the world wide stage.
Initially this body will run and promote events itself with the future goal of incorporating other promoters into the scene under the same WE Rock sanctioning body to expand the sport throughout Australia.
In real terms how it will work is this:
The initial body that has the controlling rights to WE Rock Australia will be the same people that organised the Put Up or Shut Up event this year. The initial rounds of the series will be run under similar circumstances to how we ran the Put Up or Shut Up event. The biggest difference will be that we are going to be a lot more serious, a lot more professional and there will be a lot more publicity. Put Up or Shut Up provided us with massive amounts of experience and promotional material and we are going take this and expand on it in a big way. Initially we will only be running events in Queensland and northern NSW (like the current XRCC series) because for us to run events here it is very easy and very cheap. With the way our 4WD parks are setup and the ease in which they can get insurance for unregistered rigs and the already established amenities (camping, roads, toilets, showers etc) makes this the only practical low cost way to get all this rolling.
From there we will be looking for groups in other areas to expand the sport through out Australia. We have already been talking to different people and we should be running events in central NSW next year as well.
This will all be happening very quickly so spread the word and get behind us because in around one and a half years we will be competing against the rest of the world and we want to kick some arse. We got lots of work to do.
It looks like we will be running two classes. Supermodified (almost anything goes) and Legends (37in tyres, OME or RHS frame, steering box, 2 seats, no rear steer and no portals).
First event will be Rover Park on 12-13 March (date not totally firm yet)
