DIY making and installing body lift
hello peeps, i have spent all arvo with my cousin playin with the suspension in my ute... more to the point, we got chattin about bodylift, and he said that he made his own bodylift blocks... and that it wasn't too hard, but he said he used a laith(sp?) at hte time, and doesnt know anyone that has one... that i can organise, i have my whole extended family in building, mechanics etc, im sure i can find one... but does anyone have any information on what to search for or how to actually make it in a nice lil tutorial. installation seems aight so thats a plus...
also, wat price is a cabandtub lift block kit retail for averagely. and anyone have a rough guess at how much this would cost me to make?

for a GQ $120ish not worth the effort to make one.
theres a how to fit one instruction on GQ's on my site.. step by step
88 hilux... theres about 8 bolts on hte cab, probs another 8 on the tub...
someone said that kits retail around 350$
:O :o :O
am interested to no more for the 120 buck mark, i wouldnt bother your right, but at 300 bucks i am mightily sure i will bother... do u need to get a 2 inch bodylift engineered?

GQ LWB have 12 mounts...
Theres a kit on Ebay at the moment inc bolts the works.
Yes for the 2inch body lift - depending who you talk to.. Dont take the word here, call an engineer near u.

Depending on what the engineer requires.. You would have to stick with all blocks being made of same material I would guess.
I went to Caparal ally in dande, and asked them to cut me up enough to do 2 cars at 40mm lift.
Then went to Frankston Bolts, and bought the high tensile bolts from them.
Then to Awill's work to drill the holes..
The ally blocks were around $100ish but cant really remember was 2 yr ago.
Probably on satin sheets next to a beautiful model.
My first body kit came from aus 4wd specialist in bayswater and they didnt want anything like that. Of course that was on the vit.
The next ones in brisbane from Capral and their drop saw and my drill press.
Last ones we did (3) in 2003-4 were about $60-80 each for the blocks, and depending on when you pick up the stuff and how busy they are the price varies. The 3 - were one on a Rocsta (with Chimpboy on Paul's rig), one on my vit, and one on Chimpboys MU. All needed different numbers of bolts and blocks. Think the rocsta needed something like 11, the Vitara 8 and the MU 10 from memory.
Material will probably be around the $100 mark.

smart aluminium offer solid round bar in various grades of alluminium from 10mm in diameter to 300mm in diameter so you can basically pick what you want then get them to cut it into sections for the amount of lift find someone with a drillpress and thats all there is to it apart from the fitting part i plan on recplacing the last owners square tube bodylift blocks when i get some motivation and decide what part of the body im gonna end up using
Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyurathane, $90 for a meter, cut it yourself with a drop saw. Use a lathe to put the holes in if you want to be sure they're centered.
I still have 500mm x 50mm diameter and 500mm x 75mm diameter if you are interested

73 Series Middy Cruiser 308 VN V8 OME 2in Susp lift 2in Body lift 35in Pro Comp X-Terrains
aight, ive sourced a lathe... YAY!
now as for suggestions on the suggested diamater for a 84-88 Lux and any potential excess work with a 50mm lift...
also, is it best to use the polyurathane or a steel?!?!
someone also suggested using two rails for the tub rather than lift blocks... any info on this?!?!
