7m turbo conversion

Post by lov106 »

I have a written off 7mgte supra with the r154 5 speed and im having trouble getting a clear answer to what transfer cases these can bolt up to, i was interested in either a 80's two door 4runner or a surf or hilux, something light, has anyone had any experience with a conversion like this.
thanks for your help.

hi sav

i have the same hilux like u got, and i am in the process of putting a 7mge in it.

you have a G52 it wont fit to an turbo!! u need the bellhousing from a nonturbo.
but, i was told that the G52 wont surviva a 7mgte!! it is weaker than a W56

the 7m should fit then... is it worth it, or is it much more worthwhile to have the 7mgte, and spend more time with it... at this stage i am just building ideas and the such... but asking questions now is as good as later!

AFAIK it wont bolt up to any transfer case by itself. I believe it can be bolted up to the gear driven transfer case found behind R151f and R150f but you will need the extension housing off one of these gearboxes then there are some other issues. If you do a search you will find some info.

well i hope its worth it :D i have the motor lying in my garage.
but i have only spend 400€ for everything so i think 120 extra horses for 400€ are worth it :D

i thought about it to swap a 7mgte, but it is not worth it to me, if i like the motor it will stay in, but i am dreaming of a 350CUI since i have my hilux, so i think next year the 7m will be gone :D
